Invitae’s preferred specimen type for our next-generation sequencing (NGS) assay is 3 mL of peripheral whole blood in a purple-top EDTA tube. We also accept 0.5-mL small-volume blood microtubes (3 required for each patient, per clinical area), saliva specimens, assisted saliva specimens, and DNA purified from peripheral venous whole blood for panel testing. Please note that DNA must be extracted in a CLIA or other suitably certified laboratory.
For exome and STAT testing, purified DNA is not currently accepted.
