Invitae offers a patient-pay option for diagnostic panel (and single-gene) testing, carrier screening, and exome testing.
Panel and single-gene testing
As part of Invitae’s dedication to making high-quality genetic testing affordable and accessible, patients have the option to pay $250 per clinical area tested for single-gene and panel testing.
Our goal is to make genetic testing accessible to everyone who needs it, including patients who do not meet coverage policies for testing, who have high-deductible plans, and who are not covered by insurance.
To take advantage of this pricing, you must provide your patient’s email address, so that Invitae can send an electronic bill.
Generally, full payment must be made upfront before test results are released. For situations where that would cause hardship, Invitae offers a payment plan to help make testing more affordable. Under the plan, patients can pay $125 per month for two months; test results will be released after the first payment is received. Please contact Client Services for more information or to be enrolled in the payment plan.
The fine print: This option does not allow Invitae to submit claims to your patient’s insurance company or offer advice regarding insurance submission decisions. Patient assistance programs are not available for the $250 patient pay option.
Patient-pay pricing includes the cost of shipping the specimen to Invitae’s lab only when shipped from the following countries: US, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. For all other geographies, the cost of shipping is at the expense of the sender.
Carrier screening
For carrier screening, Invitae offers a patient-pay price of $250 with a discounted $100 partner-pay option. To take advantage of the partner discount, when placing an order please provide the Invitae order # for the first partner tested, or name and DOB of the original patient. Please note: this discount applies to partner tests ordered at the same time or sequentially. The payment must be made by credit card before a report can be released, and the patient needs to agree to register online and set their contact preferences.
